P5 - What is Voip software

what is VoIP
The word VoIP stands for voice over internet protocol. this is a type of hardware that is used to talk to people over the internet by using an IP instead of using circuit transmissions. one advantage of using VoIP is the calls over the internet do not cost anything as the user is already paying for the internet. another advantage to using VoIP is it can allow multiple people to talk in the same call at once. this is good for businesses to talk in group calls or it is even good for normal people to talk in groups with friends.
one disadvantage is that they require an internet connection to work. this is a problem because if you have a bad internet connection you can get a lot of problems that you wouldn't get when using normal phones.

one example of a VoIP is Skype this uses the internet to allow people to talk to each other and also gives the user an option to pay money so they can make calls to people. this Voi software is used to allow businesses to talk to each other but is commonly used by people who use computers regally just to talk to their friends.

the advantages to using Skype

it is free. this means it can be easily downloaded and it will be a cheaper alternative then using a phone. you can also pay extra to get things such as video calls with more than one person and the option to call people using phones.

it is simple to use. this is good as it means you don't have to learn how to use. this makes it better for people who do not use there computers that much but use Skype for business calls.

allows webcam usage. you can only use a webcam with one other person on Skype without paying but it is good for talking to family that you haven't spoken to in a long time. it also features a thing called screen share. this allows people to share what is on there screen which is good for getting support with technical problems and allows people to show people what is on there screen.

its popular. because Skype is so popular it means people will get lots of technical support if needed and there will be a big community.

disadvantages of using Skype

one disadvantage is there is some times background noise. although this can sometimes just be a problem with the users mic a lot of the time it is actually a problem with Skype as it may not support the mic you are using.

you are limited a lot by using the free version. although Skype is free you can also pay monthly. this allows you to do things such as

another example of a VoIP is Razer Comms this is aimed at gamers and allows them to talk to there friends without leaving there games.

the advantages to razer comms

one advantage to using razer comms is you can go on it in game. this is good for the audience it is targeted towards as its target audience is gamers. this is good because it means the user does not have to close there game to talk to other people.

another advantage to using razer comms is it does not give away any personal information such as your ip address or your phone number. this is good because it stops people from getting information that could damage your computer. it is also good as it stops strangers from getting your personal phone number and contacting you using it.

disadvantages to using razer comms

there are not many disadvantages to using razer comms. the only disadvantage I can think of is it is in beta. this means there will be a lot of problems with it but these problems will likely be solved in future updates. an example of a problem this causes is un expected crashes. this is a problem as you will have to keep restarting it but this problem will be solved when it is no longer in beta.
