feedback
here is a link to the feedback sheet
what i was asked to change
after i made my PDP i was asked to change a few things to improve it. on the feed back sheet i was told that i needed to give more information from other units. this was because i only included information about unit 40. to fix this i looked on the unit specification
another thing i needed to add to my PDP was dates. although this was not on the feedback sheet i received i noticed that i was missing dates on certain parts of my PDP. to change this i worked out the dates for each peace of work and filled in the missing dates and filled it in.
what was good about my PDP
on the feedback sheet i was told that my work was very consistent and the obstacles where clearly shown and easy to follow. this was good but i still had to make sure to keep my work consistent when writing about other subjects and i had to make sure the obstacles where still clearly shown for the other units.

p6, d1- evaluate interpersonal and written communications techniques
here is a link to my game pitch
things I needed to think about while doing my pitch:
below are some of the things I needed to consider while pitching my game. these are the things that i thought where most important to include in my game pitch.
while I was doing my pitch I noticed a mixture of good and bad things. one of the good things I noticed while I was doing my pitch was that I did not use notes this made me seem more confident in my design and also helped me to keep eye contact with the audience.
one thing I noticed while presenting my pitch is that I looked at my own slide too much. the reason for this is because I did not have any notes and I was using it as a reminder to what I had to talk about. to fix this I will need to focus more on the audience and memorise the order of the slides and make sure I understand what I need to be talking about. if I wanted to improve my presentation I would need to stop looking at the presentation and look at the audience more. this would make me seem more professional while pitching my game and would make me seem more confident when talking.
another good thing I noticed about my pitch is that I was fairly quick at answering questions and when I didn't know the answer to a question I managed to give a clear and professional answer explaining why I couldn't answer the question this means I didn't just explain with I don't know but instead gave a reason to why I don't know. this is good when pitching a game as it shows that I have thought about it and makes me sound more confident. if I had replied with I don't know I would not look very professional.
while we where pitching our games we had to look professional. to do this I wore a smart shirt and tie. this helped me pitch my game as it made me more confident and made me look more professional. I think I managed to dress professionally during my pitch and don't think I could have done anything else to improve the way I dressed
something I didn't do in my game pitch was use the correct terminology consistently. to improve this I could do more research on the topic. if I had used the correct terminology I would have sounded more confident about the topic.
after pitching my game idea people told me that i did not speak loud enough during the end of my pitch. speaking loudly is one of the most important things to do while pitching a game as you need to sound clear so people can easily understand what you are talking about and do not miss any important information. to improve this next time i should focus on speaking loudly and make sure i face the people listening rather than looking at the board. this will make it easier for people to listen and will ensure they do not miss any important information.
summary
over all I achieved a pass for my game pitch. the thing that stopped me from achieving the merit was I did not use terminology consistently. if I did the pitch again I would use more terminology and use it consistently. to make sure I use the terminology consistently I could make a list of all the terminology or I could do more research on the subject. an example of some terminology I did not use consistently was NPC. this is the word that we where meant to use to describe any character the player could not control. instead of using the word NPC I used the word enemy.

below are some of the things I needed to consider while pitching my game. these are the things that i thought where most important to include in my game pitch.
- use correct terminology
- speak clearly
- address the audience
- talk about the target audience for your game
- look professional

P5 - What is Voip software
what is VoIP
The word VoIP stands for voice over internet protocol. this is a type of hardware that is used to talk to people over the internet by using an IP instead of using circuit transmissions. one advantage of using VoIP is the calls over the internet do not cost anything as the user is already paying for the internet. another advantage to using VoIP is it can allow multiple people to talk in the same call at once. this is good for businesses to talk in group calls or it is even good for normal people to talk in groups with friends.
one disadvantage is that they require an internet connection to work. this is a problem because if you have a bad internet connection you can get a lot of problems that you wouldn't get when using normal phones.
one example of a VoIP is Skype this uses the internet to allow people to talk to each other and also gives the user an option to pay money so they can make calls to people. this Voi software is used to allow businesses to talk to each other but is commonly used by people who use computers regally just to talk to their friends.
the advantages to using Skype
it is free. this means it can be easily downloaded and it will be a cheaper alternative then using a phone. you can also pay extra to get things such as video calls with more than one person and the option to call people using phones.
it is simple to use. this is good as it means you don't have to learn how to use. this makes it better for people who do not use there computers that much but use Skype for business calls.
allows webcam usage. you can only use a webcam with one other person on Skype without paying but it is good for talking to family that you haven't spoken to in a long time. it also features a thing called screen share. this allows people to share what is on there screen which is good for getting support with technical problems and allows people to show people what is on there screen.
its popular. because Skype is so popular it means people will get lots of technical support if needed and there will be a big community.
disadvantages of using Skype
one disadvantage is there is some times background noise. although this can sometimes just be a problem with the users mic a lot of the time it is actually a problem with Skype as it may not support the mic you are using.
you are limited a lot by using the free version. although Skype is free you can also pay monthly. this allows you to do things such as

another example of a VoIP is Razer Comms this is aimed at gamers and allows them to talk to there friends without leaving there games.
the advantages to razer comms
one advantage to using razer comms is you can go on it in game. this is good for the audience it is targeted towards as its target audience is gamers. this is good because it means the user does not have to close there game to talk to other people.
another advantage to using razer comms is it does not give away any personal information such as your ip address or your phone number. this is good because it stops people from getting information that could damage your computer. it is also good as it stops strangers from getting your personal phone number and contacting you using it.
disadvantages to using razer comms
there are not many disadvantages to using razer comms. the only disadvantage I can think of is it is in beta. this means there will be a lot of problems with it but these problems will likely be solved in future updates. an example of a problem this causes is un expected crashes. this is a problem as you will have to keep restarting it but this problem will be solved when it is no longer in beta.

M2 - reviewing document
Game Design Document
Spacing
I was given the task to look through this document and make it look more professional. there where a few problems I noticed when looking through the document. The first problem was all the writing was too close together, this makes it difficult to read and makes it hard to see when a sentence is starting or ending. To fix this problem I put a gap in between each sentence and used spacing to spread the words out.
Title
Another thing I noticed when looking through the document was the title didn't stand out very much. To improve this I increased the font size of the title and changed the colour to make it stand out more. This would help the design document look more professional and would let the reader know what the document is about.
Fonts
another thing I noticed was the font size was too small. this would make it harder to read. to fix this I increased the font size and changed the font style to make it look more professional and easier to read for people who are dyslexic.
consistency
when looking through the document I noticed it was not consistent. this was a problem as it was not written to a professional standard. this would also make the work look untidy and would make it harder to read.

Evaluate written techniques D1
Grand Theft Auto design document evaluation
1. the first thing I noticed when looking at this design document was there are no pictures. this is a problem as it makes it more difficult for the reader to understand what they are talking about, it also makes it less entertaining to read. to improve this document they could have used pictures.
2. there are some good things about this document as it goes into a lot of detail when it comes to talking about different features in the game. this makes up for the lack of pictures as it allows the reader to picture what each thing is in there head but it would be more effective if they used actual pictures.
3. As this design document was scanned onto the computer I could notice a lot of things such as creases on paper, fold marks on the corner of the pages and even marks from where the designers have left there drinks on the paper. this makes the document look very unprofessional. to improve this they could have made a new copy and to look after the new copy of it by keeping it flat. this would have made it look neater and more professional
4. another thing i noticed about this design document was the font size was quite small, this made it hard for people to read the text and also made it a bit blurry when they scanned it onto the computer. i think they should have increased the font size as it would make it easier for people to read and would have used up some of the unnecessary spaces they left on the document. another thing they could have done to improve the font is to put more spaces in between each line. this makes it easier to see when the sentence ends.
5. this document is consistent throughout. it has a subheading at the top of each page and under this it has some writing explaining the ideas of the game. this makes the document more professional as it looks neater and it is easier to read.

Explain how an awarness of learning styles can aid personal development M3
awareness of different learning styles can aid personal development because it can help you to adapt your learning skills in a way that is more comfortable to you. it is also helpful to know you learning style as it can help you complete your work in a more efficient way. for example if you are a kinaesthetic learner you will find it easier to learn things with physical activity's.
I found out that my learning style was auditory this means I find it easier to learn when people are talking. this means that i will find it easier to understand by listening to instructions. I personally believe that different people have different learning styles but I don't think everyone is restricted to having just one learning style as some people are good at learning from listening to instructions and learning from physical activity's
we did a test to see how well we worked in a group while knowing our learning styles. the test was to see how well we could follow instructions and use our learning styles to work in a fast and efficient way. while doing the test we found out that learning styles do help, for example I am an auditory learner and I had one of my team members who was a visual learner reading out the instructions and explaining them to me as I followed his instructions.
there are also some weaknesses to being a reflective learner such as they have a tendency to procrastinate. this means that they would usually choose to play games rather than doing the work which would result in the work not being completed on time or not being completed to the correct standard. another weakness is they have a tendency to hold back from direct participation which means they will not be good at team work and would rather get on with the work on there own.
some disadvantages of being a theorist learner is they get easily distracted and often procrastinate. this is a problem as it means they will leave the work till the last minuet and would usually do what they want to do rather than what they need to do.
a disadvantage to being an activist is they have a tendency to do too much themselves. this is a problem as they will work too much and it will eventually lead to them becoming stressed.
some disadvantages of being a pragmatist is they are impatient. this is bad as they will struggle to listen for long amounts of time and will often loose interest in what they are listening to.

reflector
a reflective learner is a person who is good at listening and adopts a low profile. some strengths to being a reflective learner is they are careful. this means that they will think about things more than other people and will therefore be less likely to make mistakes. they are also good at listening and assimilating information. this means they work well when they are given an instruction and will find it easier to understand things when someone is actually talking to them about it.there are also some weaknesses to being a reflective learner such as they have a tendency to procrastinate. this means that they would usually choose to play games rather than doing the work which would result in the work not being completed on time or not being completed to the correct standard. another weakness is they have a tendency to hold back from direct participation which means they will not be good at team work and would rather get on with the work on there own.
theorist
a theorist learner is a person who is good at thinking things through. one strength of being a theorist learner is you are good at asking questions. this means they will find the work easier and will often ask for help when they are stuck.some disadvantages of being a theorist learner is they get easily distracted and often procrastinate. this is a problem as it means they will leave the work till the last minuet and would usually do what they want to do rather than what they need to do.
activist
an activist learner is a person who enjoys new situations and is happy to try new things. this is good as it means they will be good at adapting to new environments and will be able to try new things to improve their work.a disadvantage to being an activist is they have a tendency to do too much themselves. this is a problem as they will work too much and it will eventually lead to them becoming stressed.
pragmatist
pragmatist learners are people who like to experiment with new ideas and are very good at problem solving. this is good as it means they are willing to try new things to improve there work and are good at solving problems with there work. these attributes are especially good in the gaming industry as game designers often have to travel a lot and they have to work in many different conditions. problem solving is good in the gaming industry as it means they will be good at solving problems with the project they are working on and will help them to work a lot quicker.some disadvantages of being a pragmatist is they are impatient. this is bad as they will struggle to listen for long amounts of time and will often loose interest in what they are listening to.

Unit 1 P3 barriers and solutions
Introduction: here I am going to give some examples of different barriers and I will give some examples on how to overcome those barriers. this will help improve your performance at work or even in college.
barriers: when communicating there are some barriers that you may come across.
Physical barriers: one physical barrier could be the temperature. when working as an animator you may have to travel a lot to do different work for people in different country's. if you came from a cold country and had to work in a hot country you would not be used to those conditions and would struggle to work.
Language barriers: some times you might have to work with someone who speaks a different language for example if you had to work in a different country it would be likely that you would have to work with someone who speaks the main language of that country. this could effect you work as you will not be able to communicate with them. this is a problem for an animator as the job would require a lot of communication to get the work done.
Emotional barriers: as an animator there will be a large amount of work that you have to complete in a small amount of time this can cause stress and may effect your ability to work and communicate with others.
solutions: there are the solutions to over come these barriers.
Physical solutions: to overcome these barriers you could drink more water or sit next to a window and try to cool your self down. you could also tell your boss that the conditions are too hot and is effecting your work and try to see if they can improve the conditions for you.
Language solutions: to fix this problem you could try to learn some of the basic words in their language or you could try to ask them if they have a basic idea of how to speak your language. this will help you to have a basic understanding of what they are saying and will help you communicate with them.
Emotional Barriers: to fix this problem you could try to plan out you work. this makes it easier to see what you need to do and can also give you an idea of when you should be working. another solution to this problem is to take more brakes. this will give you more time to think and will give you a chance to relax.
